Perseverance and progress!

What is the absolute hardest thing that high school students will EVER do? Draw a self portrait! Basic Studio Art students are embracing perseverance, and sailing through the storm of "my forehead is SO BIG" and "is my head really shaped like that?" Miss Farrow is perfecting her pep talks, and students are starting to (maybe, hopefully) understand the value of struggle through their Tribal Self Portrait process.

Advanced Students are working on artwork for the CMC Common Reader Art Contest. Their work will be displayed at the author talk on October 20th at 7pm at CMC. Here is a sneak peak, but make sure to come check out the final products!

Color! Collaboration! Clay!

As we embark on another exciting year of creativity, art students in grades k - 8 are working on their color theory skills!
Kindergarten though 2nd graders worked on some very colorful self portraits!
Color makes smiles!
Mrs. Anderson's 2nd grade students are slightly more adorable than Ms. Farrow's High Schoolers.

Lake County's awesome art teachers each want a pair of these gloves! Hint, hint....

7th and 8th grade students learned about cubism and shading.
Miss Good's 6th graders are working on mountain scapes using warm and cool colors!  These are their rough drafts.

LCIS students have been busy working together to create art! In the project below, Miss Good's students painted a space on each piece of small paper and then passed them around until all the spaces were filled. The results are amazing!

And at the High School Ms. Farrow is desperately trying to make sure her students don't have TOO much fun...

What is better than clay and sunshine?!

Mrs. Anderson, Miss Good and Ms. Farrow are so excited for another year of creative creations!

West Park Music and Art Festival

West Park art teacher Katie Anderson and music teacher Bonnie Moffett put together an amazing Music and Art Festival last Wednesday, April 15th.  A HUGE applause goes out to Katie and Bonnie for motivating and inspiring Lake County's littlest learners to become the talented, musical and creative young people that they are today!

Miss Farrow was SO excited by all the amazing art everywhere!

Self Portrait Progress!

Miss Farrow's Intro to Art classes are plowing through their Tribal Self Portrait project. Their tribal studies are complete, and they have begun the ever-frustrating, always-infuriating drawing of their own faces! After many deep breaths and several 'you have a beautiful nose' pep talks, students are kicking some serious self portrait booty!
