A spooky surprise for Miss Farrow...

Was it a coincidence that I came upon THIS creature on Halloween morning in my classroom? This is no prop, but a 100% real 8 legged bundle of scary-ness. I had to call for back up...Miss Cremin to the rescue!

In other news, our ceramics class's African inspired vessels are really starting to "come alive"! Happy Halloween!

Miss Good is actually...GREAT!

Did you know our elementary art teacher’s name is Miss Good? Don't worry, she is WAY more than just "good", as you can see below.  Her  3rd – 6th graders are drawing (haha) inspiration from Leadville’s amazing views to create some seriously awesome landscape paintings.

3rd graders are inspired by Vincent Van Gogh

5th graders learned to create the illusion of space by including a foreground, midground and background.

6th graders make Expressionistic landscapes using warm and cool colors.

A Healthy Dose of Vitamin D

It may have been snowing this weekend, but it's a mighty fine day to take some clay outside. These smiles are real, folks.

African Symbols...and runny noses.

In preparation for creating some super awesome African inspired vessels, students in the HS ceramics class are learning how to carve clay and add relief. Ceramics class is 1st period this year, and these HS students get pretty crazy at 8 in the morning.

Molly and Caitlyn are in the zone.
Our awesome, amazing, beautiful brand new art room doesn't have heat just yet....so our slip was frozen this morning. Have no fear! We are hardy Leadville folk...and will work hard, with runny noses.

Aarika loves clay so much, she eats it for breakfast! No better way to start the day.

A Growth Mindset in Wheel Class!

It definitely hasn't been easy...but after countless hours of complaining, the HS wheel class has found their Zen! They have spent the last 4 weeks learning how to center, throw cylinders and get really, really messy.
